McLaren Automotive introduces the exclusive Spectrum Theme, a multi-tone paint finish, available only on the new 750S supercar. Crafted by McLaren Special Operations (MSO), the Spectrum Theme utilizes innovative techniques, creating a visually stunning effect. Developed in three striking themes—Spectrum Blue, Spectrum Orange, and Spectrum Grey—it showcases a ‘Velocity’ fade at the rear, offering a sense of speed even when the car is stationary. This unique paintwork highlights McLaren’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of craftsmanship and design.
The Spectrum Theme takes what we can do at McLaren to the next level. A huge degree of attention and accuracy is required to ensure the lines of the Spectrum are completely sympathetic to the surface of the 750S’s incredible bodywork, and the new techniques we’ve developed to achieve this are a perfect match for the 750’s wide-ranging technical advances. The increasing complexity of what we can offer to customers, through themes like Spectrum, is testament to the incredible experience and expertise of our paint technicians at MSO.
The Spectrum Theme, available in three distinct variants – Spectrum Blue, Spectrum Grey, and Spectrum Orange – offers a unique customization experience. These color options can be further personalized by McLaren Special Operations (MSO), allowing customers to include vibrantly colored leather trim, a bespoke dedication plaque, and extended visual carbon fiber door sills featuring hand-painted Spectrum graded effect MSO logos.
However, the possibilities with Spectrum go far beyond these initial offerings. MSO can craft entirely unique colorways, requiring the formulation of new paints that balance light and dark tones to create a seamless color transition. Each Spectrum Theme is a bespoke creation, demanding custom blends to achieve the desired effect. MSO technicians faced intricate challenges, meticulously aligning Spectrum lines with the car’s shut lines and aerodynamic dihedral doors. At the rear, the Spectrum Theme incorporates a subtle Velocity fade, wrapping around the back of the 750S and seamlessly transitioning between colors. The Blue theme shifts from Spectrum Blue to Metallic Aurora Blue, the Orange theme progresses from Spectrum Orange to a vibrant Gamma Red Metallic, and the Grey variant transforms from Spectrum Grey to Metallic Meteorite Grey. As a finishing touch, the underside of the 750S’s Active Rear Wing can be finished in a contrasting color, adding a final flourish to this extraordinary customization experience.
